After several stages in cinemas in recent years, the last work off the director Fredo Valla is now available online https://chambradoc.vhx.tv/
“Bogre”, documentary film of 2021, tells of the greatest European heresy, that of Cathar and Bogomili, dabbed derogatorily in Occitan bogre, that is “Bulgarian”. This heresy spread by the Medieval period from Balkans to Western Europe, having profound impact in terms of people who joined it (and were persecuted).
This ancient story has much to teach even to our present, since it speaks of acceptance among different communities and a conception of God that preached peace, advocated social equality and –unheard-of fact for that time- gender equality.
The film is translated into seven languages (Italian, English, Occitan, Catalan, Bulgarian e Bosnian), celebrating diversity and meeting also in this regard.
Starting from today all these linguistic versions may be hired at Vimeo OTT platform.
The acronym OTT means “over the top”, that is a type of use which provides for the payment of a fee for the film rental, that will be available for several days in which it can be played several times.
It was necessary meet the need of the general public, joining all spectators who never had the possibility or the chance to see the film at the cinema, although as the director says, Bogre “has to be seen at the cinema and not on TV”, since this work is 200 minutes long it asks to the viewer to be an accomplice, to get into the bubble and letting ourselves be carried by images and words of the narrative”.
But we are sure that also in a domestic accomplishment the film preserves the power of its images and words as well as its message won’t go unnoticed also through most modern means of communication such as on demand video platforms.
